oral Sedation Information

Occasionally, a patient may become anxious and cannot relax. Sedation dentistry offers these patients, a safe and effective option for root canal treatment.

Oral sedation allows the patient to relax and/or become very sleepy. It minimizes movement during the dental procedure and allows those patients who might avoid dental procedures a safe and anxiety-free alternative. Dr. Parks, Dr. Riley, and their team understand dental anxiety is very real for some patients and want to help their patients overcome it.

Who should undergo oral sedation?

If your anxiety or fear is so great that you have avoided dental care in the past, you may be a candidate for oral sedation. However, patients who only experience mild anxiety may also receive this treatment.

Some reasons patients might choose to undergo oral sedation include: fear of dental procedures, a bad experience with another dentist, general anxiety, inability to control gag reflex, and inability to recline in a dental chair for an extended appointment.

If you are hesitant about scheduling your next visit, consider inquiring about oral sedation dentistry.
